The 30 most polluted cities in the world, 20 are in India only and Delhi is the most polluted among them. According to Greenpeace, Delhi tops the list of polluted cities in 2020. Mexico City is in second place, Sao Paulo in third place, followed by Shanghai and Tokyo. An estimated 54,000 of Delhi’s three crore population died due to pollution or diseases caused by it.
While 15000 in Mexico City and Sao Paulo, 39000 in Shanghai and 40,000 in Tokyo died due to pollution and diseases caused by it. As far as the economic loss is concerned, there has been an economic loss of 60200 crores in Delhi, 59400 crores in Mexico City, 52 thousand crores in Sao Paulo,1 lakh 41 thousand crores in Shanghai and 3 lakh 19 thousand crores in Tokyo. Delhi ranks third in terms of economic loss.
If we look at the data of Greenpeace, in 2020 at the all India level, 1.20 lakh people lost their lives due to poisonous gases.
This includes children, young people, women and the elderly.
This year, on the occasion of Diwali in Delhi, despite the ban of the court and the government, the condition of the atmosphere of Delhi has become very bad due to the number of firecrackers released by the common people. The situation has become such that a different type of lockdown has been imposed to control pollution.
In view of the deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR, the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) has held an important emergency meeting.
The commission has identified 5 different areas contributing to the prevailing adverse air quality of Delhi-NCR. The air in Delhi-NCR is grim due to paddy straw burning, vehicular pollution, post-Diwali pollution, drop in temperature and other local factors.This further increased the level of PM 2.5 / PM 10.The present unfavorable air quality scenario over Delhi-NCR was heavily influenced by the dust storm coming from the south-westerly directions of the Thar Desert, bringing in huge amount of dust.
On searching the pollution score of Delhi on the internet, it is found that the pollution score is touching around 500.
In some areas of Delhi, he used to go up to 1000 during the night. Whereas in many important cities of China it is less than 100. In other countries it is less than 50. Can you understand what is the condition of Delhi?
The three crore population of Delhi needs branded breaths today. It is the capital of the country and the message of its condition affects the whole country.
Our governments are not taking some steps but the real work should be done by the common people.Those who can plant trees around their house, plant them. Every man should understand his responsibility and decorate dozens of pots of plants in front of his house, If possible, instead of driving a car and scooter, use foot, metro and bus for some days. Farmers should not burn stubble and the government should make arrangements for it. For some days, people of Delhi should make a habit of working from home and the government should also encourage work from home for some more days. It would be better if meetings, conferences and processions etc, are not held for a few days now and only then we will be able to create such an environment where branded breath can be found.
